Background
A coal-fired plant was originally proposed for Santa Cruz by Aboitiz Power in 2011, with a capacity of 35-50 MW.[1] Later SMC proposed an 82-MW plant in Santa Cruz but officially cancelled these plans in August 2021.[2]
