Shantou power station (华能国际汕头电厂) is an operating power station of at least 1200-megawatts (MW) in Aotou Village, Haojiang, Shantou, Guangdong, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as Huaneng Shantou power station.

Background
The three existing coal-fired units of Shantou power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online between 1996 and 2005. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.[1][2]
Description of Expansion
According to Platts, Huaneng is planning to build an additional coal-fired unit at this plant, with a planned capacity of 600 MW.[1]
However, there is no information about the proposed unit on the company's website,[3] and it may have been cancelled.
