Shortwood coal mine is a proposed mine to the north of the Trowell services centre in Nottinghamshire next to the M1 freeway. The proposed mine is being promoted by UK Coal.
Approximate location
UK Coal "have submitted a planning application for the recovery of nearly 1.3 million tonnes of coal and up to 1/4 million tonnes of fireclay. The site would be operational for just over 5 ½ years creating 56 full time jobs."[1]
