Background
Residents in the villages of Putir, Mukjuju, Mudodo and Tengori raised concerns over dust and fumes in 2022.[1] These communities use the open shallow wells for their daily water use but because of the dust emissions, the water is contaminated.[1] A resident wrote to the National Environmental Management Authority regarding their concerns but they have not yet received a response.[1] However, the plant manager did reach out and said these emissions are a result of the factory undergoing some technological update.[1]
