The Sitran Coal Terminal is in an international coal export terminal near Evansville, Indiana.
Location
The terminal is located at milepost 817.5 on the Ohio River. The point on the map below shows the loading dock on the Ohio River; the coal stockpile is located approximately 1 mile north of the dock.
Coal terminal
The Sitran Terminal was commissioned in April 2012 and is owned by Foresight Energy. It is capable of receiving up to 150 car trains from mines originating on the NS, CSX and BN Railroads via the Evansville Western Railroad. The facility can store 1 million short tons of coal.[1]
The throughput capacity is 25 million short tons per year (approximately 22.68 million metric tonnes). The terminal serves Foresight Energy mines, as well as Murray Energy mines, which bought a large stake in Foresight in 2015.[2]
