Skopje-Kriva Palanka Gas Pipeline is an operating gas pipeline running from Bulgaria to North Macedonia

Location

The pipeline runs from Skopje to Kriva Palanka, before then going to the Macedonia/Bulgaria border at Kyustendil, where it connects to the Bulgarian transmission system.[1]

Background

This pipeline connects the Bulgarian Transmission Network to North Macedonia, and with it grants North Macedonia access to Russian gas imports.[5] It is currently North Macedonia's only gas import route, and leaves the country dependent on Russian gas until other interconnector projects such as the North Macedonia–Greece Interconnector Gas Pipeline become operational.
