Backgroound
The Sredneuralsk power station is a federal-level power plant located in the city of Sredneuralsk, on the shores of Lake Isetskoye. This GRES supplies electricity and heat to Yekaterinburg and its surrounding satellite cities, playing a crucial role in the region's energy infrastructure. As part of the modernization program for the generating equipment a steam turbine of Unit 7 was replaced. This upgrade significantly improved the technical and economic performance and operational reliability of the unit, originally commissioned in 1966. Additionally, the power output scheme for TG-7 was modified, connecting the turbogenerator to the 110 kV busbars. The reconstruction work began in April 24. The new Unit 7R was commissioned in July 2024.[6] As a result of the modernization, the unit's capacity increased from 100 MW to 120 MW.[7]
The modernization of Unit 6 was launched in 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2025.[8] The unit's capacity will increase by 30 MW.[7]
