Background

Thailand's Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and PTT are considering a proposal to develop a 5 mtpa FSRU LNG import project that would deliver gas to a proposed 1400-MW gas-fired power plant in Surat Thani's Phunphin district. This project replaces EGAT's prior proposal to develop the Gulf of Thailand FSRU project.[1]

As of July 2023, there are no updates on the project. The terminal is presumed to be shelved.
