Background
The Suvodol coal mine is operated by ESM in Bitola, North Macedonia.
The mine provides coal to the Bitola power station. The mine has proposed an expansion to extend the life of the mine, known as the "Deep Underlying Seam."[9] The Suvodal mine is the largest in North Macedonia and provides coal to the Bitola power station. In July 2022 ESM reported that it will build the second solar photovoltaic power plant of 60 megawatts and the third of 100 megawatts on the ground of the depleted coal deposits of the Suvodol mine.[10]
