Suzhou Qianyingzi power station (皖能安徽钱营孜发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 1700-megawatts (MW) in Taoyuan Town, Yongqiao District, Suzhou, Anhui, China. It is also known as 皖能安徽钱营孜发电厂二期扩建项目 (Unit 3).

Background on Project
In 2016, the two-unit, 700 MW coal plant was under construction and planned for commissioning in 2017. It was sponsored by Wanbei Coal-Electricity Group and Wenergy Group.[2]
Plant postponed by July 2017 suspension
In July 2017, the NEA released the "Guideline of Supply-Side Reform of the Coal Power Bubble". The Guideline included a draft list which slowed down or halted 185 coal-burning units across 21 provinces, totaling 107 GW. 114 coal units (65 GW) are ordered to slow down the construction progress during 2017 to 2020, and are not allowed to connect to the grid in 2017. In addition, 71 coal units (42 GW) were halted indefinitely for regulation violations. The list partly overlapped with the projects listed in the January NEA letter to 13 provinces.[3]
Suzhou Qianyingzi power station Units 1-2 are among the postponed coal-burning units,[3] and also appeared on an updated list of postponements released in September 2017.[4]

2018 development
Unit 1 was reported as commissioned in April 2018.[5]
Satellite photographs from July 2017 and March 2018 show that Unit 2 continued construction and appeared to be substantially complete in March 2018.[6]
Unit 2 was commissioned in August 2018.[7]
Expansion
A third unit was permitted on September 19, 2022.[8][9]
The construction ceremony was held on December 28, 2022.[10]
In 2023, the project was on Anhui's key projects list as continuing construction, and a project supervision bid was awarded to Shanghai Electric Power Supervision Consulting Co., Ltd. in March 2023.[11]
In May 2023, concrete pouring reportedly marked the official start of construction.[12] The power station was expected by 2024.
