Background
In 2021, Swadesh Metallics Pvt Ltd announced its plan to set up an integrated steel plant in Simga, Chhattisgarh at an estimated cost of ₹14800 million. The project involved setting up of pelletization plant (0.6 mtpa), DRI plant (0.42 mtpa), SMS with caster (0.6 mtpa (12 x 15T induction furnace units), rolling mill unit, RHF unit, Blast Furnace, Sinter plant, Coal washery and a captive power plant of 52 MW (WHRB) and 45 MW (CFBC). As of August 2021, the project was in planning stage.[1]
