Teluk Lamong LNG Terminal, also known as East Java LNG terminal, is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal under construction in Indonesia.
Location
The terminal is proposed to be located in Teluk Lamong, East Java, Indonesia.
Project details
- Owner: PT Perusahaan Gas Negara, PT Pelindo III[1]
- Parent company: PT Perusahaan Gas Negara, PT Pelindo III[1]
- Location: South Sulawesi coastline, Sulawesi, Indonesia
- Coordinates: -7.2038832, 112.669148 (exact)
- Capacity: 0.3 mtpa[2]
- Status: Construction[3]
- Type: Import[4][5][6]
- Start Year: 2023[3]
Note: mtpa = million tonnes per year; bcfd = billion cubic feet per day
Background
The terminal was scheduled for completion in Q4 2019. Initial capacity will be 0.21 mtpa but PT Purasahaan Gas Negara has stated that capacity will increase to meet local demand.[7] Construction is presumed to have begun in earlier 2019.[8]
PGN continues construction of a small-scale regasification terminal at the Teluk Lamong port. In its first phase, the project will have 0.3 MTPA of regasification capacity and is expected to start in 2021.[2]
As of March 2023, the terminal was under construction and is expected to start in July 2023.[3] The terminal is a regasification facility with a domestic fuel supply. It appears that the terminal can import fuel in case of domestic shortage, however, the main source is likely to be domestic gas.[4][5][6]
