Background
The Termonorte power plant, which began operating in December 2018, was originally developed by Nencol[5], then acquired by Axia Energy[6] before being sold to Glenfarne Group in September 2022.[7] The plant is powered by ten 9.3 MW Hyundai internal combustion engines that can run on natural gas or liquid fuels such as diesel.[6]
The Termonorte plant does not appear in Global Energy Monitor's Global Gas Plant Tracker due to the tracker's minimum threshold capacity of 50 MW per generating unit.[8]
