Background

In 2016, all of the units in the power plant were proposed for final decommissioning to Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA). However, BNetzA determined that the units were "systemically relevant" and that shutting them down would induce too much risk. As of June 2021, Units A, B, C, D and E are listed on the June 2021 power plant shut down list as prevented from closing by BNetzA[7][8][9][10][11][12]
