Background

Tianchi Changji cogen power station is a 2 x 350 supercritical coal plant in Changji Hui AP, Xinjiang province. It was permitted in September 2014,[2] and construction began in 2015. Operation is planned for 2017.[3]

Unit 1 began operating in March 2017.[4] Commissioning of unit 2 began in June 2017.[5]

Expansion proposed

In July 2022, it was reported to that according to province's "14th Five-Year Plan" from April 2022, an additional 2 x 660 MW was under consideration.[6] By August 2022, a consortium was awarded a bid to build, operate, and maintain the units.[7]
