Background
Two coal-fired units at the Tongmei Tashan power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online in 2008.[1][2]
Phase II Expansion
Datong Coal planned to build two additional coal-fired units at the plant with a total planned capacity of 1,320 MW. The new units were under construction and scheduled to be completed in 2015.[3]
Units 3-4 began operating in 2016.[4]
Phase III Expansion
In June 2021, reporting referenced a third phase of 2 x 1,000 MW.[5]
In 2023, with no apparent further news, Phase III was presumed to be shelved.
