Background
Torrelavega Mill power station was owned by Sniace Sa and had a capacity of 37 MW. Sniace liquidated in 2020, and the coal-fired portions of the cogeneration plant were presumed to be retired.[1]
In July 2023, the project site was sold to Copsesa and RIC Energy, and a green hydrogen project was planned at the location. Construction was expected to begin in 2025 and be completed in 2027.[2]
