Project details

  • Owner: Xcel Energy[1]
  • Capacity:
  • Length: 24.1 kilometers / 15 miles[1][2]
  • Status: Operating
  • Start Year: 2020[3]
  • Cost: $ 55.3 million[3]

Background

The pipeline is in the planning stages.[1]

In July of 2019, the Boulder County commission approved construction of the pipeline, but with stipulations requiring that Xcel Energy must report to the county any leaks found and repaired along the pipeline, plus share with the county any reports required by state and federal authorities. Xcel Energy is reportedly displeased with the stipulations, but will have to comply if they want to move forward with pipeline development.[4]

Construction of the pipeline was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic but began in April 2020.[5] The pipeline was commissioned in late 2020.[6][3]
