Background
Ureisky Coal Mine (Урейский разрез) is a SURFACE mine in Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. Coal has been mined at Ureisky Coal Mine since the 1950s. In 2000s the mine was bankrupt and the surface coal mine was flooded. In 2017 Corporation Mosstroytrans acquired the rights to the coal mine and made investments to restart activity.[3] Mosstroytrans is a construction and logistics company based in Moscow.[4] However it later appeared that in 2020 the co-owner of the mine became a businessman from Belarus Vasily Smetanin.[5]
As of 2022, the mine produces about 10 thousand tonnes of coal per month, or about 0.12 million tonnes annually.[3] There's a plan to increase production to 0.6 million tonnes by 2026.[4]
In 2023, the mine's revenues increased by 27% reaching USD 16 million.[5]
