Background
The power station was initially proposed to work in conjunction with the gas pipeline which passes through the city of Jacutinga while producing approximately 2,000 jobs during the construction phase, and was expected to receive at least 800 million reias of investment as of 2016.[5]
In February 2018, the environmental license for the power station was deferred by the Ministry of the Environment.[6] However, later in 2018 the project was granted a preliminary license valid through February 2023.[7]
As of March 2022, there has been no news of the project in more than four years, and it is presumed to be cancelled.
