Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam

Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Limited (UPRVNL) is a wholly Uttar Pradesh government owned thermal power utility. The utility states that it currently has a generating capacity of 4082 MW, operating five thermal power stations in the state.[1] UPRVNL was created in a restructuring of the government owned energy sector with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation created as the arm responsible for transmission and distribution of electricity in the state and Uttar Pradesh Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UPJVNL) holding the existing and under construction hydro power stations.[2]

Coal-fired power projects

On its website UPRVNL states that its current thermal power stations are:

  • the 1630MW Anpara power station. The power station comprises three 210MW units and two 500Mw units. Coal for the project is supplied from the Kharia, Kakri and Beena coal mines NCL.[3]
