Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Ванинский морской торговый порт), also called Port Vanino (Порт Ванино), is a universal port facility located in Vanino, Khabarovsk Krai, Russia. The port handles coal.
Location
The map below shows the location of the coal-handling facilities at the Vanino Commercial Sea Port.
The large VaninoTransUgol and Daltransugol coal terminals are located at Muchka Bay, approximately 6 km to the northeast.
Background
The Vanino Commercial Sea Port began operating in 1943.[1] It handles a variety of cargo types, including coal, containers, timber, and alumina. In 2018, the port handled just under 7 million tonnes of total cargo, including 4.6 million tonnes of bulk cargo (coal and alumina).[2] In the first 9 months of 2019, the port handled 6.6 million tonnes of cargo, including 4.1 million tonnes of coal.[3]
Coal exports volumes have been reducing in the recent years, from 4.3 million tonnes in 2020, to 3.5 million tonnes in 2021 and 2.8 million tonnes in 2022.[4]
Based on the company's 2021 report, shareholder structure includes Port Vanino-Finance LLC (26% of common stock), Cypriot Open Trade Limited (23.7%), Statula Holdings Limited (21.6%), Sedmino Investments Ltd (20%), Travina Trading Limited (3.7%).[5]
As per its 2023 annual report, The Vanino Commercial Sea Port handled about 5.6 million tonnes of total cargo as it reported that its share of dry bulk cargo turnover in the Far-Eastern basin cargo was 3.6%.[6]
