The Walker County Coal Terminal is a proposed coal barge loading facility on the Black Warrior River in Walker County, Alabama, United States.
The terminal transports coal from the nearby proposed Blue Creek mine. Both the terminal and the mine would be owned and operated by Warrior Met Coal. After leaving the terminal, coal would be shipped via barge to the McDuffie Coal Terminal in the Port of Mobile for export overseas. The terminal is expected to cost US$50 million to construct.[1][2] The Blue Creek Mine is expected to begin operations in 2026, so the Walker County coal terminal is likely to operate around that time.[3]
According to the Construction Journal, the project was still under planning as of July 15, 2022. No applications or building permits have been submitted to Walker County. [4]
