Background

Xibaipo power station is a six-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 2,400 MW. The plant was completed between 1993 and 2006, and is majority-owned by Hebei Construction & Investment Group.[3]

As of May 2018, Units 1-2 were referred to as Phase I, Units 3-4 were referred to as Phase II and Units 5-6 were referred to as Phase III.[4]

In April 2023, a single-unit 660 MW Phase IV was approved at Xibaipo power station. The unit would use ultra-supercritical technology.[5]
