Background
Yunfu power station is a six-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,120 MW in Guangdong Province. The first four units, totaling 520 MW (2 x 125 MW, 2 x 135 MW), were completed between 1989 and 2002.[4]
Units 5 & 6, totaling 600 MW, were completed in 2010.[5][6]
Units 1-2 were retired in 2018.[7]
The natural gas cogeneration project (Unit 7 and Unit 8) of Yunfu power station (粤电云河发电公司天然气热电厂) was approved by the Development and Reform Bureau of Yunfu City in January 2022. [8]On August 28, 2023, the project officially entered the construction phase, with plans to start operation in 2025.[9]
Ownership
The plant is owned by Guangdong Yudean Group . In 2014, Guangdong Yudean Group sold 75% of its shares of units 3-4 to Yunfu City Yunda Investment Holding (云浮市运达投资控股有限公司).[10]
