Background

In 2024, Zama was called "one of Mexico's most-promising new oil fields"[18], however its development has faced setbacks[19] and its start up timeline has been pushed back on multiple occasions. Initially discovered in July 2017, FID was expected in early-2020.[20] By February 2024, FID still had not been reached and production start up was pushed back from 2024 to 2025.[19] In November of 2024, Argus reported "first production from the Zama field will likely not start until at least 2028."[18]
