Background

In June 2023, it was reported there were plans to resume coal mining at the Zasyadko Coal Mine, which ceased operating in 2021 due to shelling as a result of the Russia's invasion of Ukraine.[6]

In May 2024, the Government of the Donetsk People's Republic published an order on its website, according to which ownership of the mine will be transferred from Shakhta Imeni O.F. Zasyadka PJSC to State Unitary Enterprise of the Donetsk People's Republic "Main Directorate for Mine Restructuring".[7]
