Background

Phase 1

Zhejiang Ningbo LNG Terminal is an LNG terminal in Zhejiang, China.

Zhejiang Ningbo LNG Terminal Phase 1 began construction in December 2009, and was commissioned in 2012 with LNG imported from Qatar. This phase included three 160,000 cubic meter tanks and a receiving capacity of 3 mtpa.

Phase 2

Phase 2 began construction in June 2018. The proposed operating date was 2020, and the capacity would be an additional 3 mtpa.

The first storage tank of Phase 2 went operation in November 30, 2020, receiving the first load of imported LNG.

Phase 3

Phase 3 was listed in 2021 in Zhejiang Province's 14th Five-Year Plan for coal, oil and nutural gas. A new sponsor company for phase 3 was formed in May 2022. Its EIA report was approved by Ningbo Environmental Protection Bureau in June 2022.

The construction of phase II began in 2022 and by November 2023, the foundation construction has been completed.Phase III will build six 270,000 -cubic-meter storage tanks, adding 6 mtpa of capacity to the existing LNG terminal. The completion date is set in 2025.
