Background
The Zlin power station is operated by Teplárna Zlín s.r.o.[1] The primary fuel used for heat and electricity production is coal, which can be co-burned with biomass and also biogas.[2][3] The power station reportedly included at least one 30 MW coal-fired power unit.[4]
Ownership
The Zlín thermal power plant generates and delivers electrical energy, process heating, and district heating. The plant has an electrical capacity of 64 MW and a thermal capacity of 376 MW. The coal-fired power plant was acquired in full by the Alpiq Group in 2005 and sold to Sev.en Energy AG in 2019.[5]
Sev.en Energy AG's website summarized the following:[3]
- "Teplárna Zlín s.r.o. is the heat and electricity supplier for Zlín households and industry companies located in the industrial area of former Baťa shoes company. Zlín Heating plant operates 2 main production units with CFB boilers (blocks B31, B32) and 3 medium pressure gas boilers for heating. The primary fuel used for heat and electricity production is coal which can be co-burned with biomass and also biogas. (...) The second production unit operates by Teplárna Zlín is heating unit „Kocanda“. It ensures heat delivery for local households. It is an independent source with 4 gas hot water boilers, which serves as stand-by and peak source of heat. In addition, Zlin heating plant operates technology and grid system for distribution of electricity, heat and gas in the former Baťa industry area."
