Background

Zomet power station is a 402-megawatt natural gas-powered plant constructed by Energy Services, an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company of PW Power Systems. EPC signed an agreement with Zomet Energy Ltd., a subsidiary of OPC Energy, to construct Zomet power plant in Israel. The power plant will feature six FT4000 advanced technology aero-derivative gas turbines. PW Power Systems president and CEO Raul Pereda said: “Deployment of renewable power and discovery of significant natural gas reserves in Israel has sparked a Change in power. We are excited to be part of this transition to cleaner and healthier power generation." [8] The natural gas power plant will produce electricity using open cycle technology, and is expected to serve as a peaking unit. [9]
