Background
Construction of a looping pipeline in a high-altitude area of the Ahangaran-Pungan gas pipeline began in August 2020. The looping pipeline will run through the Kamchik Pass and will ensure an uninterrupted supply of gas to the Fergana Valley's population during the autumn-winter period. The large-scale work in the mountains, at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 2,632 meters, presents technical challenges such as potential mudslides, rockfalls, and landslides, requiring extensive engineering studies.[9] The pipeline was expected to be implemented in 2020-2022.[1][10] In December 2020, 20 kilometers of the pipeline were built.[6] The project was listed as completed in 2020 on the O'ZLITINEFTGAZ website.[7]
