Background
Amreli Steels was founded in 1972 as a rebar manufacturing company. The billet plant was inaugurated in 2011 with an annual capacity of 200 ttpa.[1]
In November 2018, Amreli Steels announced its third phase of an expansion plan for establishing an additional state-of-the-art rolling mill using Pioneering Technology at Dhabeji special economic zone (SEZ) at a projected cost of Rs 6.5 billion, which will increase its rolling capacity from 605 thousand metric tons per annum (ttpa) to 1,105 ttpa. This will increase the melting capacity of the plant from 600 ttpa to 1,000 ttpa.[2]
