The Bac Coc Sau coal mine in Quang Ninh Province is an existing coal mine which is operated by Ha Long Coal, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese government-owned Vinacomin. The company describes the mine as the largest open-cut coal mine in Vietnam.[1]
On January 17, 2010, Cavico Corporation - a major infrastructure construction, infrastructure investment, and natural resources conglomerate based in Vietnam - announced that its subsidiary, Cavico Bridge and Tunnel, had signed a construction contract to excavate a transport tunnel as part of the project. The cost-adjustable contract is valued at approximately US$2 million.[2]
