Collie B (Premier Coal) Power Station was a proposal by Premier Coal for a 300 megawatt power station adjacent to the existing Collie A Station, which is scheduled to be retired. The proposal was submitted to Western Power as a tender for a power procurement process. The bid did not win the tender.[1]
In April 2011, two Japanese companies, the Kansai Electric Power Company and Sumitomo Corporation, bought the plants in the town of Collie, Collie B (Premier Coal) Power Station and Collie B (Griffin Energy) Power Station. The sale came just a few months after Indian firm Lanco Infratech finalised its 750 million dollar takeover of Griffin's coal mines, which are also in Collie.[2]
