Collie B (Premier Coal) Power Station was a proposal by Premier Coal for a 300 megawatt power station adjacent to the existing Collie A Station, which is scheduled to be retired. The proposal was submitted to Western Power as a tender for a power procurement process. The bid did not win the tender.

In April 2011, two Japanese companies, the Kansai Electric Power Company and Sumitomo Corporation, bought the plants in the town of Collie, Collie B (Premier Coal) Power Station and Collie B (Griffin Energy) Power Station. The sale came just a few months after Indian firm Lanco Infratech finalised its 750 million dollar takeover of Griffin's coal mines, which are also in Collie.
