Premier Coal (also known as Wesfarmers Premier Coal) operates the Premier Mine near the town of Collie in Western Australia. Premier Coal is a part of the Wesfarmers Energy Group of Wesfarmers Limited.
On September 27, 2011, China-based Yanzhou Coal said it agreed to buy two coal companies from Australia's Wesfarmers Ltd for a total of A$296.8 million to boost its coal reserves: Premier Coal and Wesfarmers Char's businesses.[1]
Proposed Coal Fired Power Stations
Collie B (Premier Coal) Power Station was a proposal by Premier Coal for a 300 megawatt power station adjacent to the existing Collie A Station, which is scheduled to be retired. The proposal was submitted to Western Power as a tender for a power procurement process. The bid did not win the tender.[2]
