Delta Rhine Corridor H2 was a proposed hydrogen pipeline running from Netherlands to Germany, with connections to Belgium as well. As of January 2025, it how appears to be described as a hydrogen and CO2 pipeline corridor.[1] The hydrogen component of this is now part of the Netherlands National Hydrogen Backbone.

Location

The pipeline was proposed to run from the port of Rotterdam, through the German border at Venlo.

Background

The precise locations of the future Delta Rhine Corridor pipelines are still being studied. However, it is clear that in the Netherlands, the starting point is ‘the SVB strip’ (the area the national government reserved for pipelines in its structural vision). The SVB strip runs from the port area in Rotterdam via Moerdijk to Chemelot in Geleen and to the German border near Venlo. An alternative is under consideration for part of the hydrogen pipeline: an existing natural gas pipeline via the Boxtel-Ravenstein route. [6]

This project is included in the H2inframap, which displays a collection of hydrogen-related projects across Europe.[3]
