Background

Denisovsky Vostochny Coal Mine (шахта Денисовская Восточная) is an underground mine in Sakha Republic, Russia. The Denisovskaya Vostochny coal mine is operated by GOK Denisovsky JSC, which is owned by Kolmar LLC.

It is part of the Denisovsky Mining Complex (Денисовский ГОК) which also includes the Denisovskaya Central Coal Mine and Denisovsky Surface Coal Mine.

The mine was commissioned on the 9th of April 2021.[11][12] Its capacity is 4 million tonnes.[12][13]

Its 2021 production is estimated at around 2.5Mt as total GOK Denisovsky production of 6 million tonnes[14] less estimated production of Denisovsky Surface Coal Mine and Denisovskaya Central Coal Mine. In the first 6 months of 2022, the mine produced 1 million tonnes.[12]

As of April 2023, there were plans to increase monthly production to 0.4 million tonnes.[15] (annual equivalent - 4.8 million tonnes).

A government report on the coal industry in 2022 stated the plan to increase the mine's production to 4 Mtpa by 2026, with production anticipated until 2063.[16]
