Background
The precise start date of the Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH, but the main works were established in 1927 under ThyssenKrupp.[1] Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH was formed in 2007 from the merger of the companies Edelstahl Witten-Krefeld and Edelstahlwerke Südwestfalen.
Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH offers in-house green steel certification; according to the website, the plant can can produce about 110 kg of CO2 per ton of crude steel, which is over 90% below the global average.[2] The plant also produces hydrogen infrastructure steel.[3]
No environmental fines or safety accidents have been published in recent years.
