Background
The Finkl Steel Chicago plant began operating in 2011, but the A. Finkl & Sons Co had been operating other plants in Chicago since the 1880s.[1]
In 2012, the company was fined $352,700 for violations of Occupational Safety and Hazard Association (OSHA) standards at the Chicago plant.[2]
In 2019, an explosion at the plant's slag pit caused $150,000 in damage. No one was injured.[3]
