Gansu Jiu Steel Group Hongxing Iron and Steel Co Ltd (甘肃酒钢集团宏兴钢铁股份有限公司) is a steel plant in Jiayuguan, Gansu, China that operates blast furnace (BF), basic oxygen furnace (BOF), and electric arc furnace (EAF) technology.

Background

This plant is the headquarters production base of Jiuquan Steel (Group) Co., Ltd., which also goes by JISCO.

The company plans to build a 2070m3 BF in 2022 to replace four 450m3 blast furnace. It is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2024.[1]

June 25, 2024 the company's 2070m3 BF hot blast furnace successful ignition, marking the new BF put into operation officially into the countdown.[2]

In November 2023, the company announced a capacity replacement project involving the decommissioning of three existing 60-ton converters at its steelmaking and rolling plant. The project includes the construction of one KR desulfurization unit, two 100-ton converters, two LF furnaces, one 7-strand billet caster, one single-strand slab caster, and a 4200 mm wide and thick plate production line. Additionally, an 80,000 m³ PRC-S type gas holder and supporting auxiliary facilities will be built. The project is designed to achieve an annual output of 2.3 million tons of qualified continuous casting billets[3]. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for February 28, 2024.[4]
