Background
The Grupo Gallardo Corrugados Getafe steel plant produces billet, rebar, and coil.[1] Grupo Gallardo bought the Corrugados Getafe plant from Arcelor in 2005, along with the Grupo Gallardo Corrugados Azpeitia steel plant.[2]
In late 2012, the plant was briefly closed, but reopened in February 2013 and allowed its 201 employees to return to work.[3][4]
In 2019, KKR, an American private equity group, acquired part of Grupo Gallardo, which included the Corrugados Getafe steel plant.[5]
In February 2021, a group of citizens complained about air pollution from the plant and that the plant was not complying with the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AAI) of Madrid.[6]
