JSW Steel Salem steel plant is a blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) steel plant operating in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India.

Background
JSW acquired Salem Steel Works in November 2004.[1] JSW Salem is considered the largest special steel plant in India with a capacity of 1 mtpa.[2]
JSW submitted application for environmental clearance for the expansion of the plant capacity from 1 mtpa to 1.3 mtpa on 07 July, 2017. The company received the environmental clearance from Ministry of Environment , Forest and Climate change on 10 February, 2020. The expansion project involved enhancing existing facilities.[3] As of March 2022, augmentation of blast furnace 2 was completed.[3] Phase 2 expansion involves introducing a third sinter plant and enhancement of blast furnace #1.[4]
