Jai Balaji Durgapur steel plant, also known as JBG Durgapur, is a blast furnace (BF), direct reduced iron (DRI) and electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant operating in Durgapur, West Bengal, India.

Background

In October 2007, the West Bengal Government signed a memoranda of agreement (MoA) with Videocon Industries and Jai Balaji Industries for the setting up a three mtpa integrated steel plant and a 1,200 MW power plant in the Asansol-Durgapur region of Burdwan, with a total investment of around INR 15,000 crore.[1] The plant was inaugurated in February 2009.[2]
