Background
Krakatau Posco steel plant is a joint venture company between global leading steelmakers, korea-based POSCO and Indonesia-based PT Krakatau Steel, established in 2010.[1] The construction of the integrated steel plant commenced in 2011 and took 36 months to complete with the first Blast Furnace Technology in Indonesia. The commercial production started in 2014 and has a steel production capacity of 3 mtpa.[2] The plant is expanding its capacity to 6 mtpa, construction of which is expected to start in 2024.[3][4] The plant also plans to build a second blast furnace at the site.[5]
