Background
Kakatiya Power Station was initially a subcritical 500 MW power plant in Andhra Pradesh commissioned in 2010. It is owned by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO),[2] which later became Telangana State Power Generation Corp (TSGENCO).
Phase II (or Stage II)
An additional 600 megawatt (MW) coal plant Stage II was proposed at the site. As of 2012, Phase II was scheduled for commercial operation by March 2014,[3] later pushed to April 2015,[4] and was commissioned December 2015.[5] It began commercial operation in 2016.[6]
Financing for Phase II
It was reported by Telangana State Power Generation that a financing agreement for Phase II was closed. The Rural Electrification Corporation provided US$4,097,202,354 in loans, and Andhra Bank provided US$629,858,512.[1]
