Background
The plant used to be owned by United Heat Supply Company (Объединенная теплоэнергетическая компания, ОТЭК), which in turn is owned by Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions, part of Rosatom group.[2][3] In early 2023 it was announced that the plant has re-joined the structure of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Association (PIMCU), following the the decision made by Rosatom State Corporation.[4] PIMCU is also part of Rosatom.
The plant has 6 turbine units and 11 boilers with installed capacity of 410MW.[5][2][6] Available capacity of 311 MW was confirmed as part of certification in 2023.[7]
The plant secures energy supply to Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Association (PIMCU) as well as heat to the town of Krasnokamensk.[5]
It produces about 1.5 billion kWh of electricity a year.[4] Coal is supplied from the Urtuysky coal mine, in 2021 the plant used about 1.65 million tonnes of lignite.[8] In recent years, boiler units 5, 7, 8, 10, turbine units 2, 4, 5 and cooling towers 1 and 2 were overhauled.[4]
