Background

Kyoei Iron Ltd was established in 1947. The name of the company was changed to Kyoei Steel Ltd in 1948. In 1972, Yamaguchi Kyoei Industries Ltd. (now Yamaguchi Division) was established in Onoda City (now Sanyo Onoda City), Yamaguchi Prefecture.[1] The plant operates a 50 ton AC electric arc furnace.[2]

In December 2023, a 1.61 GWh per year solar power plant was installed at Yamaguchi Division’s Higashioki site, a controlled-type landfill disposal yard. The solar power plant included 11,985 m2 of solar panels. The power generated is used at the division’s shredder plant in the area, which recycles goods, and surplus power is sold to power companies.[3]
