Lanwa Steel Hambantota steel plant, also known as Lanka Steel, is a blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) steel plant under construction in Hambantota, Sri Lanka.

Background

Ceylon Steel Corporation was established in 1961 as a downstream fabrication facility.[1] In July 2021, the company announced its plan to construct an integrated steel plant. After construction the plant is expected to produce 600 ttpa of steel billet, rebars and wire rods.[2]
