Lanwa Steel Hambantota steel plant, also known as Lanka Steel, is a steel plant in Hambantota, Sri Lanka that operates blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) technology.

Background

Ceylon Steel Corporation was established in 1961 as a downstream fabrication facility.[1] In July 2021, the company announced its plan to construct an integrated steel plant. After construction the plant is expected to produce 600 ttpa of steel billet, rebars and wire rods.[2] As of January 2025, there were no updates regarding the plant.
