Maithan Ispat Kalinganagar Steel Plant, also known as MESCO-II, MIL, is a direct reduced iron-electric arc furnace (DRI-EAF) steel plant operating in Kalinganagar, Odisha, India.

Background
Maithan Ispat Ltd was incorporated in August 2003.[1] Mesco Steel acquired Maithan Ispat Ltd in 2015 for about US$ 180 million.[2] In 2015, Mesco Steel also announced its plan to invest INR 1,000 crore in the plant to revamp and expand the plant in two phases.[3]
In August 2023, a worker was killed and six workers sustained injuries when molten metal fell on them at the plant.[4]
