Malaysia Steel Works Klang, also known as Masteel Klang, is an electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plant operating in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
Location
The map below shows the exact location of the plant in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia:
- Location: Lot 13039, Jalan Waja, Bukit Raja Industrial Estate, 41050 Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia
- Coordinates (WGS 84): 3.077835, 101.464480 (exact)
Background
Masteel was founded on 25 March 1971. It started operations with electric arc furnace to smelt steel scrap to produce steel reinforcing bars at their rolling mill in Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. The Bukit raja steel plant was commissioned in 1998. The electric arc furnace was supplied by Italy-based Danieli and was one of the most modern equipment at the time. The meltshop had an installed capacity of 750 ttpa. In 2021, after a 4 year revamping programme the plant installed 60 ton induction furnaces to replace its conventional electric arc furnace. The new furnaces produced carbon and alloy steel.[1][2]
